Writing Effective E-Mail Extra Credit Essay
How Email has changed the Way I live, work, and shop.
I don't think email has really changed the way I live, but it has changed the way I correspond with family and friends. I am one of the worlds worst letter writers. I have been on the internet now over five years and email has really helped me stay in contact with everyone a lot more frequently. It just doesn't seem such a chore to sit at the computer and type a message as it does to sit down with paper and pen and actually write a letter. I will admit that most of my messages to family are as long as regular letters. With email I am also able to send them the latest pictures of family and friends. Email gets there a lot faster than regular mail and I don't have to worry about stamps and envelopes. Since I got my daughter online, I hear from her more often and she sends me pictures of my grandson all the time.
The headquarters for the organization I work for is located in Virginia and my office is in Texas. Email makes it very easy to send in the monthly reports they require. It also keeps the office phone bills down, because I can ask questions or get permission for purchases by email. The response time is almost as fast as making a phone call.
I don't do a lot of shopping online. I have made a couple purchases of books and computer programs this way. I have used email to make inquiries from companies about their products. I have also used email to ask about stores in my local area that carry their product. I have had pretty good responses from most of them. This has saved me from actually making a trip to town and finding a store that carries what I want and then have to run down a salesperson to ask the questions I want answered. We all know what fun that can be!
